This interesting seminar was the final in a series of seminars run by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) in conjunction with the NHS National Centre for Involvement and the National Institute for Health and Welfare, Finland. The series of four seminars brought together practitioners and researchers from the public and voluntary sectors to discuss the ways that citizens and the public are involved and engaged across the public sector. Professor Jonathan Tritter from the Institute of Governance and Public Management at Warwick Business School introduced the day and led the discussions.
This session was of particular interest to IAPO as it helped us to understand how the public are involved in other sectors and to examine if there are any common themes or lessons to be learned. It was also interesting to hear how this involvement can effect change, in local regeneration projects for example, where the involvement of community members led to a complete change to development plans.
The outcomes of the seminars will be provided shortly, however, an article on one of the previous sessions in the series attended by IAPO, can be found here.
