The EU Health Policy Forum (EUHPF) welcomes the framework and has developed a position paper on Horison 2020. The positon paper argues that:
- Chronic diseases and patient safety need to be a higher research priority
- Research in e-health needs to be geared towards equitable access
- Horizon 2020 should build on the work of international organizations, for example the World Health Organization (WHO) Health 2020 strategy
- Research on tobacco control should be adequately addressed
- Patient involvement in research leads to better outcomes
- A target should be set that by 2020, public funding for health research should reach the same level as commercially-led research
EU Health Policy Forum The EUHPF is an interest group within the European Commission. It helps to ensure that the EU's health strategy is open, transparent and responds to public concerns.
