Building a sustainable patients’ organization
by IAPO at 6:43PM Tuesday 04 December 2012 (News)

Our members and other patients’ organizations around the world are working to improve healthcare and provide vital support and representation to patients, their family and carers.

IAPO is committed to developing the capacity of patients’ organizations globally. Strong finance, management, governance and membership/supporter policies strengthen organizations, making them more sustainable and ensuring they have systems in place to achieve immediate tasks while planning for the future.

We aim to support our members to become more sustainable and have a greater impact towards their mission. This year we have provided a capacity building programme at the 5th Global Patients Congress; re-launched our Twinning Programme; provided tools, information and workshops through our Regional Programme and guided members through the processes of the World Health Organization in our Mentor Programme. We have also shared regular information to support your work through our capacity building article series.

Information on fundraising, advocacy, partnerships, communications, social media, project management and project planning has been published in this series and is also available on the Patients’ Exchange – an IAPO member only platform.

To learn how to make the most of your IAPO membership, join IAPO’s Member Induction Webinar. We look forward to an exciting year ahead in 2013 and will share information on upcoming capacity building opportunities for IAPO members soon.
