IAPO was delighted to invite members to participate in a capacity building session following the 2009 IAPO Annual General Meeting, using the patient safety toolkit to advocate for safer care. Addressing global patient safety continues to be a high priority for IAPO Members. Patients’ organizations worldwide are playing a key role in tackling safety issues by highlighting concerns from a patient perspective.

As part of the process to develop an IAPO Policy Statement on Patient Information, IAPO Member Representatives were sent a copy of the IAPO Background Paper on Patient Information with a draft IAPO Policy Statement, for consultation. It is very important that we receive the feedback of all members so that the Policy Statement reflects the views of a wide range of patients’ organizations and to ensure it is a strong advocacy tool. Therefore, in order to give more time for detailed consideration of the document, we are extending the deadline for comments until Friday 3 July 2009.
